UK team meets PIA officials, inspects flight safety – Pakistan

Rawalpindi: a delegation from the United Kingdom Department of Transportation that Pakistan currently visits to evaluate aviation security standards held a meeting with the PIA Management on Friday.

The United Kingdom team visited the headquarters of PIA and inspected the flight operations of the national flag, the safety and flight engineering.

The successful completion of the visit of the DFT team of the United Kingdom will pave the way for Pakistani airlines to resume direct flights to the United Kingdom, ending a long restriction on the routes of the United Kingdom.

A spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that the United Kingdom delegation had arrived here four days ago to review aviation security standards.

The United Kingdom team was welcome by the CEO of the CAA, Nadir Shafi Dar, and the heads of several departments. The evaluation of the United Kingdom team occurred after months of preparatory meetings between the Pakistani and British aviation authorities.

The CAA has the hope that the result, citing extensive preparations with respect to the international aviation security requirements.

The prohibition of the National Pakistan airline that operated in the EU was lifted by the European Aviation Security Agency (EASA) in November last year.

The restriction was imposed in 2020 after a PIA plane crash and a pilot license scandal.

After EASA raised the ban on Pakistani flights, Pia resumed flights to European destinations.

The PIA is anxious to fly to London, Birmingham and Manchester de Islamabad and Lahore.
