Syria to have new government on March 1: foreign minister – World

Syria will have a new government next month, Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani said Wednesday, with interim authorities who ruled the country after the overthrow of Bashar Al-Assad.

“The government that will be launched on March 1 will represent the Syrian people as much as possible and will take into account its diversity,” Shaibani said outside the world governments in the United Arab Emirates.

The rebels who seized Power installed an interim government headed by Mohammad al-Bashir to direct the multi-confessional multi-ethnic country until March 1.

Last month, Ahmed al-Sharaa, leader of the Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) group that directed the rebel offensive that Overthwew Assad was appointed interim president.

He had the task of forming a transition legislature with the Parliament of the Dissolved Assad era, along with the Baath party that ruled Syria for decades.

HT and other factions have dissolved, and their combatants are integrated into a future national force.

In an interview earlier this month, Sharaa said organizing the elections could take up to five years. The new authorities have pledged to hold a national dialogue conference that involves all Syrians, but have not yet established a date.
