A man was arrested and detained for impersonating an officer from an agency to apply the law to seek personal favors in the Senate Secretariat, police said Thursday.
On January 23, a first information report (FIR) was recorded at the Police Station of the Secretariat on the complaint of the Hyder Ali Senate Secretary under sections 170 (which appeared to a public servant), 171 (with outfit or transport token used by public servant with fraudulent intention) and 419 (punishment for trap by personalization) of the Pakistan Criminal Code.
The FIR, a copy of which is available with Dawn.comHe said that the suspect was going through an “officer in the service of the agency for the application of the law” and had visited the Senate Secretariat on numerous occasions in recent days looking for “personal favors through criminal intimidation.”
The FIR added that an investigation revealed that the person was using a false identity to obtain “illegal favors.” He asked the Police to investigate the matter and undertake legal actions against the suspect.
Subinspector Muhammad Akbar, the investigating officer of the case, provided an update of Dawn.com Today on the case, saying: “The person in question was arrested for the safety of the Senate and took us. An investigation was conducted against this person and a Challan was also presented. Now this person has been sent to jail. “
He said that the suspect was arrested the same day that the FIR was presented and an army badge was also seized from his custody.
In a similar incident in May of last year, the Secretariat police team had arrested a suspect who passed an official of an intelligence agency and recovered a wireless, uniform set and a MP5 magazine Rifle from him.
There was also a case against the suspect.
