The three -time presenter Michael Bublé opened the 2025 Juno awards with a statement that was expected, and very different from anything heard in a show of the Canadian awards before.
“We are the greatest nation in the world,” he said about the country that had just described as beautiful, expansive and unique. “And we are not on sale.”
The level of patriotism of stars and stripes is not something typical for Canadian artists, much less in a ceremony generally fighting for a reason to exist with the Grammys.
But before a spiral commercial war and Arce leave stickers of the grocery store, the Vancouver Junos set apparently received a very necessary injection of national pride that appeared as the night continued.
In a speech to accept the life achievement award by Anne Murray, which the Canada team used, he explained why he fought against the United States at the beginning of his career.
“I instinctively knew that I needed a place to go, to escape when my work was over,” he said. “Canada was my safe shelter, my safety blanket, my light at the end of the tunnel. And it is still.”
Canadian Pride was also in the funny thanks of the producer Boi-1da to Drake, after Boi-1da received an international achievement award.
Apparently I was not discouraged to leave Drake’s corner despite the rapper extended rap dispute with Kendrick Lamar, who wrote the anthem Not like us On the apparent distance of the American black culture of the Canadian star.
“The best rapper of all time, the best artist of all time,” he said on the stage of his frequent collaborator. “And he’s from Canada. Drizzy Drake, that’s my brother.”
When asked if he was nervous to collect the sides on a beef that has curled up in all, from Rick Ross to Demar Derozan and Serena Williams, he said that the thought had not met the mind.
“All things on the collection sides are right on the Internet, because when you go anywhere else in the real world, everyone listens to Drake,” he said in the press room behind the stage.
The host of Junos, Michael Bublé, began the awards ceremony in Vancouver in saying that he was proud to be Canadian. The pop singer called Canada ‘the biggest nation on Earth’ and added that the country is not for sale.
When the program came to an end, seven times nominated and the BBNO $ Vancouver (pronounced “Baby no Money,” he said, no “BB”) grabbed his first race gold in the category of fans choice. It was one of the biggest discomfort of the approximately 50 awards of the ceremony, since he beat heavy batters like The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes and Tate McRAE.
After recognizing the achievement and thanking his hometown, BBNO $ had something else to finish his speech.
“In addition, Elon Musk is a piece of garbage,” he said. He found a roaring applause.
The camera quickly cut a slightly shy bublé, along with Max Kerman, main singer of the Arkells band.
“Man, I didn’t hear that, but people liked it,” Bublé joked.
“I heard it and it was correct,” Kerman said.

Together with that challenge, the show was reinforced by some big names, even if they were not present.
Tate McRAE had already emerged as the great winner of the Juno at Saturday’s awards gala, taking home trophies for a single, album, artist and pop album of the year, although he was not attending any of the nights.
Lowell by Calgary and Jack Rochon de Toronto won mainly for their work at Beyonce’s Cowboy Album, with winner of the best producer and lowell, the inaugural composer unrealized, a category that defended for years.
Sunday may have had fewer awards to announce, but there was still no shortage of notoriety. He began with a bomb opening that Bublé presented by bike through his successes Feel good, Home and I haven’t known you yet – Parade with an original section of Master Fresh Wes, and verses of the nominees Jonita Gandhi, Roxane Bruneau and Elisapie using Punjabi, French and Inuktitut, respectively.
The first prize of the night was the group of the year for the beaches, which makes it the second consecutive year Blame Brett The rockers managed to hook the victory. They joined a lot of other live acts, developing the transmission of approximately two hours that included only four main categories.
There was bbno $ making his It’s boy Together with the personality of Priyanka television, and companions Vancouverites Peach Pit showing his success Magpie.
There was the singer and composer Nemhasis, who would win the artist or advance group. Gum And singer Josh Ross singing Leave me toojust after taking the country’s country album for his Complicated.
I was Jazzy B, Inderpal Moga and Chani Nattan through Coolin ‘. The song was nominated for the inaugural recording of the year in the music of southern Asia, created for the stratospheric ascent of the musical style in Canada that Jazzy B played at the end of his performance: “From Surrey, to the world, to Junos,” he said, holding his hand in heaven.
There were Snotty Nose Rez Kids, who won the best RAP album the night before, becoming the first indigenous group to do so, running through a mixture of their successes, including Red future, One of the best, Change forms and Free Next to the collaborator Tia Wood.

And finally, there were Sum 41, also spraying a mixture of his successes for his last live presentation. Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte also included the band in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame previously in the program.
It was a bittersweet sample. There was a love video tribute to Sum 41, with everyone, from Tommy Lee to direct DMC, George Stroumboulopoulos and Iggy Pop Wondered in the In too deep Influence of rockers. But the performance itself was slightly tarnished by sound problems that, for some transmissions, cut the song before it was done.
Despite the technical account, the band welded as if nothing was bad. And in his acceptance speech of the Hall of Fame, he even made an elliptical comment that could have been interpreted as a comment on why, or as a comment on the dominant issue of the Canadian identity crisis.

“The great pop Iggy once told us: ‘Forget who you think you are, and always be who you really are,” said main singer Deryck Whibley.
“It doesn’t matter what you do in life, be yourself, believe in yourself and, above all, stay persistent.”
