Starc pulls out of Champions Trophy, Smith to lead Australia – Sport

Australia’s fast bowling player, Mitchell Starc, has retired from the Champions League trophy for personal reasons, leaving the team without his three first -line rapids for the Odi tournament in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

Starc withdrawal occurs after the unconditional Patm Cummins and Josh Hazlewood rhythm were discarded due to injuries.

World Champions Australia will now rely on a quartet of rapid marginal bowling players, Sean Abbott, Spencer Johnson, Ben Dwarshuis and Nathan Ellis, in their commitment to more covered Odi.

The selectors said that Starc would not be available for the two hate of heating against Sri Lanka in Colombo, the first as of Wednesday.

“We understand and respect Mitch’s decision,” said selector George Bailey in a statement on Wednesday.

“His loss is, of course, a blow to the Champions Trophy campaign, but offers another person to leave a brand in the tournament.”

The selectors confirmed that Steve Smith will lead the exhausted team in the absence of Cummins, after having recently captained Australia in its sweep of the 2-0 series of the test series against Sri Lanka.

Australia will also be without injury, Mitchell Marsh, and the all -terrain of Bowling, Marcus Stoinis, who retired from Odi with a surprise last week.

Power Jake Fraser-McGurk batter has been included in the 15-men team and can replace Marsh in number three in the batting, with Matt Short and Travis Head will probably open.

The LEVeer Sangha tray has also claimed a place, after having played the last of its two hate in September 2023 to India.

Australia opens her Champions Trophy campaign against England in Lahore on February 22 and plays more group games against South Africa and Afghanistan.
