Stabbing at Holocaust memorial in Berlin triggers manhunt

Berlin-The detectives launched a large-scale human hunt in Berlin on Friday after a stabbing in the city’s holocaust monument, two days before the country’s national elections.

Three hours after the incident, the officers who sweep the streets near the scene met an unidentified man whose hands were covered with blood, police said. He surrendered without saying anything, said Florian Nath, main spokesman for the City Police Department, to NBC News on the scene.

The police are treating him as the suspicious lonely and is not looking for anyone else in relation to the attack, he added.

The officers were called to the monument to the murdered Jews of Europe at 6 pm local time, where a 30 -year -old male tourist, had serious dagger but not threatening wounds at the top of the body, Nath said. He added that the weapon was “something very acute that could cause serious injuries at the top of the body”, such as a knife or a screwdriver.

The site includes 2,711 concrete slabs on one site on the other side of the United States Embassy Street and near the Brandenburg Gate. Six other people were traumatized after witnessing the attack and were recovering in the care of the officers, they said.

That triggered a human hunt from 80 to 100 dress dresses and uniformed officers who were looking for in this city of almost 4 million people.

“Very often the suspects returned to the crime scene, and in this case, it was so,” said Nath. “We arrest it immediately and found a lot of evidence that I was carrying with it,” he said, declining what that evidence was, but added that he had no identification.

While the suspect was being put in a police vehicle, two officers raised a white sheet to protect their identity.

The site was surrounded by emergency vehicles, including police vans and a fire truck with a cherry collector that shone with light on the scene below, where the researchers carried out their work.
