Shawwal moon sighted, Eidul Fitr to be observed in Pakistan tomorrow – Pakistan

Pakistan would mark the first day of Eidul Fit tomorrow, the central Committee Ruet-Hilal said on Sunday, after observing the moon for the Islamic month of Shawwal.

The president of the Central Committee of Ruet-E-Hilal, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, presided over a meeting of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which took place on the Kohsar block roof, according to a Dawn.com correspondent.

Azad made the announcement of the moon that was seen, detailing that the zonal committees were found in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar to see the moon.

By pointing out that the heavens were clear in most Pakistan’s places, while some cities had cloudy skies, Azad said the committee received testimonies from Shawwal’s moon in view of several places, including Lahore, Bahawalpur, Islamabad, Sheikhupura, Kasur and others.

“Therefore, it was decided unanimously that Goding Willing, Shawaal 1st, 1446 would be observed on Monday, March 31, 2025,” said Azad.

The committee meeting attended religious academics, weather experts and other interested parties to verify the moon sighting reports throughout the country.

Last month, the space investigation commission and the upper atmosphere of Pakistan (Supparco) had predicted that the sacred month of Ramazan would begin on March 2, while Eidul Fitr would be observed on the 31st of the month.
