Russia launched strong air attacks against Ukraine for a second night on Saturday after the United States stopped sharing satellite images with the Ukrainian government, authorities said. At least 22 people have been killed.
The United States’s decision to retain intelligence and military aid occurred immediately after a stormy visit of the White House last week by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. President Donald Trump is trying to press Ukraine to accept a peace agreement with Russia.
Without satellite images of the United States, the ability of Ukraine to attack within Russia and defend against bombing is significantly diminished.
“This is what happens when someone postponed to the barbarians,” wrote Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Saturday X. “More bombs, more aggression, more victims. Another tragic night in Ukraine. “
At least 11 people died in multiple strikes in a city in the East Region of Donetsk in Ukraine, on Friday night, and seven other people died in four cities near the front where Russian troops have been moving forward, said regional governor Vadym Flashkin. Three others died when a Russian drone hit a civil workshop in the northeast region of Jharkiv, emergency service officials reported. A man was killed by bombing in the region.
Flashkin declared a day of mourning on Saturday and warned that more victims could still be found in the debris.
Russia triggered two ballistic missiles to the center of the city of Fropillya’s frontline, then launched a strike aimed at rescuers who responded, according to Zelenskyy. Forty -seven people, including seven children, were injured in the attack.
“It is a vile and inhuman intimidation tactic to which Russians often resort to,” he said.
Only 24 hours before the attacks, Russia hit Ukrainian energy facilities with dozens of missiles and drones, limping their ability to deliver heat and light to their citizens and vital power weapons factories for their defenses.
When asked on Friday if the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, was taking advantage of the United States Pause about the exchange of intelligence to attack Ukraine, Trump replied: “I think he is doing what anyone else would do.”
Zelenskyy did not mention the exchange of intelligence on Saturday, but said he welcomed Trump’s proposal on Friday to impose large -scale bank sanctions and tariffs on Russia until a fire and end of peace agreement is reached.
“Everything that helps Putin finance the war must break,” said the Ukrainian president.
Zelenskyy also said that he and other high -ranking Ukrainian officials would travel to Saudi Arabia at the end of this week to discuss proposals for the war. In a publication about X, he wrote that he was scheduled to meet with the heir prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Salman, but that only his team would remain in the country to meet with US officials.
“Ukraine has been looking for peace since the first second of this war,” he wrote. “The realistic proposals are on the table. The key is to move quickly and effectively. “
The Ukraine Air Force reported on Saturday that Russian troops launched three Iskander missiles and 145 drones during the country during the night. The bombardment contained a mixture of attack and lure drones destined to confuse aerial defenses. A missile and 79 drones were demolished, while 54 more drones were lost without causing damage, said the Ukraine Air Force.
Meanwhile, Russian troops demolished 31 Ukrainian drones during the night, including 26 on the country’s Krasnodar region, Russia’s Ministry of Defense said on Saturday.
The drop in a drone caused a fire in the Kinef oil refinery in the northern Leningrad region in Russia, said local governor Aleksandr Drozdenko in a statement. No victims were reported.
