Punjab prosecutor general orders arrest of suspects behind rape, attempted murder of teenager in Lahore – Pakistan

Punjab Attorney General Syed Farhad Ali Shah, took the alleged torture of gang violation and the almost fatal torture of a 14 -year -old worker in the Hadiyara de Lahore, ordering the immediate arrest of the suspects on Friday.

According to a first information report (FIR) presented at the Hadiyara Police Station on February 2, a copy of which has been seen by Dawn.com – The victim went to work on February 1 but did not return home. The next morning, it was found by local residents near a cemetery in a pool of blood.

“The suspicious unknown for unknown reasons injured my nephew … with an acute instrument with the intention of killing him,” wrote the plaintiff at the FIR, which was presented under section 324 (Attempt at Murder) of the Pakistan Criminal Code (PPC).

However, according to a press release issued by the Office of the Attorney General on March 20 (Thursday), the victim approached Shah and claimed that he was also raped in a group in the assault.

“The victim personally approached the Attorney General and told him the details of the atrocious incident,” said the press release, adding that Shah declared the “high profile” case.

According to the statement, Shah summoned the investigating officer to review the investigation progress and issue a line of investigation. The officer delivered information on which the Attorney General rebuked him for “bad investigation” and “not including the relevant provisions” in the case.

“The Punjab attorney general issued a line of investigation under section 376 (III) (punishment for the violation of a minor) of the PPC and issued instructions to deliver the case to the SSOIU (Special Sexual Crimes Research Unit) under the Anti-Violation Law 2022,” said the press release.

“According to the vision of Prime Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the protection of children will be guaranteed,” Shah said. “There will be no commitment to the rights of women and children.”

Talking with Dawn.comShah said he demanded the immediate arrest of the suspects and reiterated that the violation provisions will be included in the case.

“The deficiencies in the investigation of children’s rape cases will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said. “This case will be an example … the police will complete the investigation into merit and present a report.”

Despite the presence of strict laws against rape in the country, which could result in the death or imprisonment that lasts ten to twenty -five years, incidents of sexual assault continue throughout the country.

The data collected by the non -governmental organization Sahil revealed that a total of 1,630 cases of child abuse throughout the country in the first six months of 2024 were reported.

Statistics included 862 cases of child sexual abuse, 668 cases of kidnapping, 82 cases of missing children and 18 cases of children’s marriages. In the six -month period, 48 cases of pornography were also recorded after sexual abuse.
