Rawalpindi police arrested three alleged kidnappers and recovered three Afghan kidnapped during an operation on Wednesday, a police spokesman said.
The spokesman added that the three victims were foreigners, an Afghan woman and her two children. “They were safely recovered within 24 hours after their kidnapping by the Saddar Wah Police.”
The suspects allegedly kidnapped the family by inviting Afghanistan under the pretext of offering a visa to a European country, the spokesman added.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, the city police officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani realized and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects and the safe recovery of the kidnapped.
Special teams were formed under the supervision of the Potohar police superintendent to find the suspects. Using CCTV images, together with human intelligence and other technical methods, the suspects were tracked and detained during the raid.
“The suspects will be accused of solid evidence and they will be given exemplary punishment,” said Cpo Hamdan.
In April of last year, a member of the Swiss embassy staff and five other people were stolen and retained as hostages in Islamabad for six hours, forced to bring more money from an automated cashier.
According to the Police, a foreign woman and five Pakistani associates had parked vehicles near Shah Allah Ditta, within the limits of the goal police station, and began to ride a bicycle towards a stupa located in the limits of Taxila.
In February 2021, the Hipódromo police in Lahore reserved two suspects for allegedly kidnapping two foreigners for a rescue of RS3 billion.
The suspects nominated in the first information report (FIR) obtained RS10.4M of Stephen Ehrhardt, a Swiss citizen and Magerwin Maria Spari from Germany, freeing them with the condition that they would handle the remaining amount.
