NA speaker notifies 300pc hike in lawmakers’ pay – Pakistan

Islamabad: brushing criticism about a proposed increase in their salaries, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a great increase for parliamentarians.

Although the increase amounts to an increase of around 300 percent, the Government justified it when comparing it with the salaries that are submitted to federal secretaries.

A source in the National Assembly Secretariat said Sunrise That president of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, had notified the increase, after the approval of the Prime Minister.

It has also been learned that parliamentarians have received their reviewed salary for the month of January.

Despite their political rivalries, the members of the Treasury and the opposition banks had shown a rare unit on the issue of the increase in their salaries and other advantages during a recently held meeting of the Finance Committee of the National Assembly.

The committee, headed by the president of NA, Ayaz Sadiq, approved the proposed increase in monthly salary of each MNA and senator to RS519,000.

Previously, legislators received a monthly salary from RS180,000. It was learned that a monthly salary of RS1 million for parliamentarians were really proposed, but the speaker of NA rejected the proposal, but agreed to increase it to RS519,000.

Salary of provincial legislators

The committee was informed that even after the increase, the salary of the AMN and the senators would be less than that of a member of the Provincial Assembly.

Sources from the National Assembly Secretariat said Sunrise That before the meeting of the Finance Committee, legislators from all conventional parties, including PPP, PTI and PML-N, met with President Sadiq and asked for an increase in their salaries while comparing themselves between their salary and salary of a MPa.

The committee was informed that parliamentarians’ salaries had not increased in the last seven years.
