Man arrested after driving through Canada-U.S. border in B.C


A man who illegally crossed the Canada-United States border crossing in Surrey, British Columbia, on Sunday morning has been arrested, according to authorities.

The Canada Border Services Agency contacted local police around 8:45 a.m. to inform them that a white van with Washington state license plates had entered the country “without stopping,” according to a Police Service statement. of Surrey.

Shortly after, a vehicle matching the description was seen driving dangerously and weaving into oncoming traffic on King George Boulevard near 64th Street.

“SPS officers successfully stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was the sole occupant of the van. Although the vehicles were damaged, there were no injuries to the officers, the suspect or other drivers on the road,” the SPS press release said.

Photos and videos from the scene show several SPS vehicles surrounding the pickup truck, which crashed into a guardrail and landed in a shallow ditch.
