KP cabinet approves renaming Peshwar’s cricket stadium after Imran Khan – Pakistan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s cabinet approved on Friday to rename the Arbab Niaz Cricket of Peshawar to the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.

The KP government had previously decided to change the name of the stadium, the only international place in Crickt in the province, after the founder of PTI to honor the fundamental role of the former prime minister in the configuration of the nation’s sports scene.

The KP Prime Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur signed a summary of the Department of Sports a day ago, proposing the change of name of the stadium. The summary said that CM Gandapur had desired the name change of the stadium located at Shahi Bagh, Peshawar, such as the Cricket Imran Khan stadium.

The Provincial Government approved to rename the stadium in the current KP Cabinet session, according to a statement issued by the provincial information department.

The stadium, according to the summary, was transferred to the Sports Board of the Municipal Corporation and the Provincial Government carried out its development in 1986-87. The stadium then improved and provided with facilities when the World Cup was jointly organized by India and Pakistan in 1996.

He said Niaz was the father of Arbab Shahzad, former KP’s main secretary in the Government of Pervez Khattak and prime minister’s advisor on the establishment of the Imran Khan government.

Ramazan and Eid package

Separately, the cabinet also approved a Ramazan and EID package for one million poor families in KP.

The poor, orphans and transgender people must receive a transparent package, CM Gandapur was cited in the statement.

“Poor families affected by terrorism must be included in the package. The poor and the disabled must be special care. All transgenders in the province must receive the package, ”said Gandapur, added that the package distribution must be completed before Ramazan 15.

The prime minister also said that wages and pensions must be paid before February 25.

The cabinet meeting also approved an annual subsidy of RS4.92 million for 15 orphans studying at the Abbottabad public school.
