Nueva Delhi: The security personnel in Haryana had largely fortified the edge of Punjab with concrete blocks, metal peaks and barbed wire fences. These measures were implemented to prevent farmers from moving forward to Punjab towards the capital during their planned campaign ‘Delhi Chalo’.
Police officers at Punjab arrested multiple farmers’ leaders on Wednesday, including Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal in Mohali. The arrests occurred after concluding their meeting with a central government delegation, headed by the Minister of Agriculture of the Union, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in Chandigarh.
The Punjab Police moved Dallewal on Thursday from the Institute of Medical Sciences of Punjab (Pims), Jalandhar to another hospital. The police force eliminated the protesters of their demonstration points in Shambu and Khanauri, where they had been parked for more than a year. Using the JCB team, the authorities eliminated the constructions and temporary platforms that were erected in these two places.
The discussion in Chandigarh marked the seventh dialogue between the groups, with the central team that also included the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi and the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.
