Five border body staff (FC) were martyred and at least 12 wounded on Sunday when an explosion occurred near an FC convoy in the Noshki district of Baluchistan on the National Highway, authorities said.
The forbidden Baluchistan Liberation Army (BL) emerged as a key perpetrator of terrorist violence in Pakistan in 2024, since the frequency of high intensity attacks by prohibited groups has increased in the province, according to security reports.
The initial investigations suggested that today’s incident was a suicidal attack, said the Noshki Station station (Sho) Zafarullah Sumalani.
Sho Sumalani said the evidence of the attack site suggested that a suicide attacker attacked a vehicle loaded with explosives in the FC convoy.
The injured were being transferred to the FC camp and the Noshki Teaching Hospital, where an emergency has been imposed.
Sho Sumalani feared that the death toll and the number of injured would rise since several of the injured were in critical condition.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the “explosion near a bus on the Noshki-Dalbandin road” and expressed his pain for the loss of five lives.
In a statement published by his ministry in X, Naqvi expressed his condolences to the afflicted families and prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured.
“Going to innocent people is the height of brutality,” said Interior Minister, added that the antistatal elements were “plotting an atrocious conspiracy to create instability” in the country.
Naqvi said that such cowardly acts could not weaken the firm resolution of the nation.
Denouncing the attack, Baluchistan’s prime minister, Sarfraz Bugti, promised a strict action against terrorists.
“Those who play with the peace of Baluchistan will be taken to a tragic end,” CM Bugti said in a press release.
“Cowardly attacks cannot reduce our morals,” he said. “There is no place for terrorists in Baluchistan, peace will be established at all costs.”
CM Bugti promised that all possible steps will be taken to take the enemies of peace before justice.
“This war will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated,” said the prime minister, adding that all in Baluchistan are indebted to those who shed his blood for this homeland.
The Baluchistan government also condemned the attack, said spokesman Shahid Rind in a statement.
“Going to innocent civilians is a brutal act,” said the statement. Rind prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
“The enemy elements are trying to destabilize the country,” the statement said. “People’s moral cannot be reduced through terrorism.”
“We are with the affected families in their time of pain,” said Rind.
In terrorism
Today’s incident occurs after a policeman was martyred last night, while another six were injured in an explosion near a vehicle of the Baluchistan anti -terrorism force (ATF) in Quetta.
It also follows the recent kidnapping of Jaffar Express trains near the Sibi area of Baluchistan, in which 26 hostages, including 18 security personnel, lost their lives. Five more security personnel were martyred during the operation.
After the attack, the military promised to take decisive measures against terrorists operating in Baluchistan, along with their reports and facilitators, both inside and outside the country.
Pakistan took second place in the 2025 global terrorism index, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks that increased by 45 percent during the past year to 1,081.
Last month, 18 soldiers were martyred, while 23 terrorists were killed in various disinfection operations in Baluchistan in 24 hours, according to public relations between services (ISPR).
February saw a marginal increase in terrorist attacks, but witnessed a strong increase in civil victims, according to a report published by the group of experts based in Islamabad, the Institute of Conflict Studies and Security of Pakistan (PETS).
