New Delhi: Congress leader Pawan Khera On Sunday he launched a scathing attack against Assam’s prime minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, saying that the BJP leader should remember that his time in office is “limited.” Khera’s comments came in response to the arrest of Assam Congress Spokesman Reetam Singh, who has lit a political fierce.
‘The days are numbered’
Khera accused Sarma of political vendetta, claiming that Assam Cm is “scared” of the MP of Congress Gaurav Gogoi. “This reminds us of how Congress leaders, including myself, have suffered at the hands of the Assam Police. CM should not forget that their days as the main minister are counted,” Khera said.
He declared a strong contrast, “even 10,000 Himanta Biswas cannot scare a Gourav Gogoi.”

The controversy broke out after Assam’s police arrested the spokesman for Congress Reetam Singh in Guwahati for an alleged insult based on castes aimed at a Dalit woman. The general secretary of the Congress, Jairam Ramesh, condemned the arrest, describing it as a “abuse of police powers”, while CM Sarma defended the action, hinting an explosive revelation.
“Wait for the great revelation,” Sarma warned, claiming that a main leader of Congress, Gourav Gogoi, had links with ISI and Pakistan.
Ramesh replied, calling Sarma the “outgoing cm” and accusing him of arming the police. “Stop diverting attention from the real problem: its misuse of police power to attack opponents,” he wrote.
The Congress defends foreign experts in the Telangana caste survey
Meanwhile, Khera also defended the decision of the Telangana government to involve foreign experts in his caste survey. “We live in a global environment. Geographical limits should not matter when they borrow experience,” he said, challenging the BJP to ever deny the use of foreign advisors during their three terms in power.
The BJP has criticized the measure, questioning why international experts should participate in an internal policy decision.
As political tensions intensify in Assam and Telangana, the battle between Congress and BJP shows no slowdown signs.
