Islamabad: While both lawyers converted into politicians went to meet former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Adiala prison on Saturday, former PTI Fawad Chaudhry leader and the head of the Shoaib Party Shaheen entered with a fight for a minor argument outside of the prison, according to witnesses and media reports.
Chaudhry, who separated from PTI in the light of the repression of May 9, supposedly called Mr. Shaheen a ‘tout’. Shaheen, a party leader who lost the elections to a PML-N candidate in 2024, replied, telling Chaudhry to take care of his own matters since he had nothing to do with PTI after his departure.
Apparently, this enraged the former PTI leader and slapped Mr. Shaheen, as the media were widely reported. According to reports, the PTI leader injured his hand in the incident. Both leaders, however, entered jail before things could increase.
The fight was also discussed at its meeting with Imran Khan in the makeshift room.
The former minister says that the ‘settlement’ reached the leader of PTI; Shaheen says he will not “forgive” Fawad
Later, Chaudhry told reporters that Shaheen would constantly speak against him. He pointed out that Shoaib Shaheen, during a television program, had said that Imran Khan had called him a deserter.
“I know it wasn’t correct. I asked Imran Khan if he called me deserter, but Mr. Khan denied having used such words for me, ”he said.
However, he said that the matter had been resolved between the two as in the direction of Imran Khan “we forgive us and reach an agreement.”
He also said he had never left the party. While talking with SunriseHe said he never joined anywhere else, although he had the option of joining the Itemhkam-i-Pakistan party and “it was quite easy for me to become a minister, but I did not.”
However, Shoaib Shaheen said he would not forgive the former minister. He insisted that he had only delivered the message of Imran Khan that Fawad Chaudhry had nothing to do with PTI.
Speaking to the media, he said that Imran Khan had “condemned the incident.” He also said that no reconciliation had taken place with Mr. Chaudhry.
Answering a question, he said he would not file any complaint against Mr. Chaudhry in the game, but that he would never forgive him. He also said he would not inform the police either.
Meanwhile, PTI’s lawyer, Nadia Khattak, who was present outside the prison, said the differences between party leaders were quite normal, but physical violence was unacceptable.
It is worth mentioning that PTI has faced deep divisions and several groups have been formed within the party after the imprisonment of the founder of the party in 2023.
Recently, the unconditional of the Sher Afzal Marwat party was expelled after, according to the reports, he developed differences with Secretary General Salman Akram Raja. Before Mr. Marwat, Khyber’s prime minister Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, was eliminated as head of the provincial chapter of the party and replaced by Junaid Akbar.
