The Minister of External Affairs (EAM) S Jaishankar delivered the opening speech in the Opening Session of the Eighth Indian Ocean Conference In Oman on Monday.
In his speech, Jaishankar highlighted India’s commitment to regional cooperation and stability in the Indian Ocean region, said the Ministry of External Affairs In a statement.
He also met Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, to review bilateral ties. The discussions focused on the ways to further improve collaboration in areas of mutual interest, with Jaishankar thanking Oman for his support in strengthening relationships.
The minister also launched a special logo that marked 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman and presented a book on the shared history of both nations.
The book ‘Mandvi to Muscat: the Indian community and the shared history of India and Oman’, documented the presence of long data from the Indian diaspora in Oman and its role in the configuration of bilateral ties.
Jaishankar also held bilateral meetings With foreign ministers of Brunei, Bangladesh, Iran, Bután, Sri Lanka, Maldivas, Mauricio and Nepal. The discussions covered regional security, trade and cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
After his visit, Jaishankar shared on social networks the key moments that reinforced India’s commitment to the region.
