Deceased poet Dr Akash Ansari’s adopted son, driver arrested after funeral: police – Pakistan

The adopted son of the late poet Dr. Akash Ansari and his driver have been arrested from Badin by interrogation after the funeral, police said Sunday.

Police Superintendent Masood Iqbal, leading the investigation under the directive of the Hyderab Police Police Superintendent, said Dr. Farrukh Ali’s directive Dawn.com that “Latif Akash and the Ashiq driver were arrested to interrogate in relation to the death of Dr. Akash.”

“They were being questioned accordingly,” said Sp IQBAL.

Dr. Akash’s postmortem report has not yet been issued. The autopsy was performed by the medical-legal officer (MLO) Dr. Abdul Hameed Mughal under the supervision of his senior, Dr. Imran Khawaja. The report is likely to be broadcast on Monday.

However, Dr. Mughal confirmed multiple wounds that were deep, “throughout the body of the deceased.”

He said the final opinion will be revealed in the report that will be issued after consultation with the police surgeon, Dr. Wasim Khan.

“Shadow or sharp injuries are found throughout the body, both superficial and deep,” he said, adding that an X -ray test had been performed to assess the nature of bone fractures, and a report from the Radiology Department was expected.

The previous reports had said that Ansari died after suffering 100 percent burns as a result of a fire that exploded in his room on Saturday morning. He was 69 years old.

According to the previous statement of the Hyderabad Police, “his son Latif tried in vain to get the flames before rescue staff 1122 arrived and managed to extinguish the fire.”

Dilbar Halepoto, member of the rescue team, had said that his team was informed about the fire at 8.47 am and arrived at the poet’s house at 8.55 am the cause of the fire was more likely that it was a short circuit, he said.

Ansari had recently been using his poetry to condemn the extrajudicial murder of Dr. Shahnawaz Kunbhar. He read his poetry at a recent meeting organized by the North America Sindhi Association at the Sindh Museum.
