NEW DELHI: A trip to Kaziranga National Park turned horrible for a woman and her daughter after they narrowly escaped a potentially deadly encounter with a rhino during vehicle safari Sunday, according to park officials.
The mother and daughter were on a safari in the Bagori range when the girl accidentally fell out of the open vehicle. In a split second, her mother jumped to her rescue.
In a video, the rhino, which had been nearby, is seen approaching the duo. The driver of the vehicle reacted quickly and stopped the safari vehicle just in time to allow the two to climb back in safely.
Although neither the mother nor the daughter suffered physical injuries, they were left in shock.
The official overseeing the park then noted the importance of exercising caution during safaris and reminded tourists to follow all safety guidelines within the park.
Kaziranga National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is famous for housing the largest one horned rhinocerosamong other wildlife species. Tourists are urged to respect the park’s rules to ensure their safety and protect the unique ecosystem.
