Amritsar: After almost two weeks of silence, another explosion occurred, aimed at the house of a policeman in Raimal’s village in the Batala Police district, Monday night.
This is the twelfth explosion aimed at police positions and the first targeted to a police person since mid -November 2024.
Senior Police Superintendent (SSP) Batala, Suhail Qasim Mir, confirmed that a loud sound was heard in Raimal’s village, which seems to have been caused by a low intensity pump. He said that it was not yet clear if it was an explosion of grenades or some other form of explosive. “We are verifying what happened and investigating the cause to understand the exact situation,” Qasim said.
He also confirmed that the explosion occurred near the house of a policeman.
Previously, on the night of February 3, an explosion occurred outside the boundary wall of the Churiana Fatehgarh Chowki police in Amritsar. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, loss of lives or damage to the police post, apart from a small crater along the way. eom
