As the reports arise from a hardener career in the driving of the Ottawa area of Pierre Poilievre, liberal and conservative supporters trust the possibilities of winning their respective candidate.
The supporters of Bruce Fajoy of the Liberals believe they have the opportunity to highlight the conservative leader in Carleton, which Pailievre has had since 2004.
Meanwhile, Pailievre supporters say they are sure that he will keep the seat.
Even so, both The Globe and Mail and Toronto Star reported last week that conservatives were deploying a team of driving employees to help Pailievre win a career, they have said that some undenies of progressive conservative parties of Ontario could be closer to what was expected.
“I would like Pierre Poilievre to have gone from politics,” said Bob Neske, who lives with his wife June in a quiet part of West Ottawa.
“Bruce is a super nice guy … We’ve been out of smooth almost every day from the beginning.”
The retired military couple has presented their support behind Fajoy, who worked in businesses and marketing before going back to be a father and volunteer.
June Neske said the two “historically have voted for the conservative”, but none could support Pailievre.
Bob Neske said his opinion about Pailievre began to change in 2022 when the parliamentarian showed support for the protest of the convoy, which saw thousands of people descend to Ottawa with large trucks, protest pandemic mandates and other government policies.
He added that he would not support the liberals if former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was still a leader.
‘I don’t know if it’s so close’
A conservative source told CBC News that the party is confident that Pailievre will take the seat, as it has done in the last seven elections.
For Mike Medeiros, who runs a fungus farm in driving and is voting conservative, the reports of a hardener career do not worry.
“I don’t know if it’s so close, maybe it is. I think what is happening is also that we have 91 candidates in our driving,” said Medeiros, referring to the large number of protest candidates that run in Carleton.
Medeiros said that affordability is the most important thing for him in this election, citing the high taxes he had to pay for his farm.
“I think that conservative voters will definitely leave and support their candidate who has supported during the last 20 years,” he told CBC.
“Throughout the summer you will see [Poilievre] In driving. It will appear and buy some fungi from time to time … he is definitely a great defender of our local community. “
Medeiros added that he has not yet met Fajoy.
Great participation in advance vote
Riding candidates also include Beth Prokaska, a retired music teacher, and Mark Watson, from the Green Party, which founded several businesses.
The data published by the Canada elections show that almost 44,000 votes were issued in Carleton during advanced surveys, more than 40 percent of voters in the agency list.
By denying that there is some driving concern, the conservatives added a rally in Carleton to their schedule for Sunday night.
CBC requested a comment from the conservative leader, but did not receive a response at the deadline.
Meanwhile, Avjoy says the race is won.
“People will discover on the night of the elections that this will be a very close career,” he said. “That is the message we are telling people.”
