Eight people, including two police officers and a lawyer, were injured and a police vehicle was set on fire in the Karachi Gulan-I-Hadeed area on Sunday when the police collided with members of the legal fraternity during an attempt to finish its five-day start against the projects of the channels, according to officials and witnesses.
Earlier this week, the Government arrested the controversial project of Cholistan channels, which was opened in February by the Army Chief, the general also Munir, and Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz. The decision occurred after months of protests, a resolution of the Unanimous Sindh Assembly against the project, and refers to the suspension of India of the Indo Water Treaty. The Government said that the work in the channels would remain waiting until a consensus in the Common Interests Council is reached.
Despite the announcement, the protests against the theme continued in several cities of Sindh on Saturday, along with a strike called Jamaat-I-Islami. The lawyers organized a sitting in Babarloi in the Khairpur district, and the manifestation in the Karachi Gulshan-Hadeed entered today in its fifth day.

The Interior Minister of Sindh, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, issued a statement today urging lawyers to protest peacefully.
“The Sindh government recognizes people’s right to peaceful protest, but lawyers should monitor criminals around them,” he said.
The Interior Minister said that no measures would be taken against people who protested peacefully and urged people to ignore “rumors.”
“I request that lawyers do not cause problems to citizens,” he added. “Given the situation and national circumstances, we must promote unity.”
Meanwhile, a political worker, who wanted to remain in anonymity, said Dawn.com That early in the morning, when only a few protesters had gathered on a road that links the National Highway with the Supercorya near Gulshan-Haade, the police took measures, which resulted in injuries to a lawyer and the arrest of several other protesters.

The activist added that some hundreds of people arrived and attacked the police with stones, damaging their vehicles.
“More than two hundred protesters then resumed the sitting, blocking the link path again,” he said.
Sho Abbasi also confirmed that protesters organized another sitting on the link path at night.
The anonymous activist said that some lawyers visited the Steel Town police station and met with Malir Ssp Kashif Abbasi to “pacify” the situation.
“SSP Malir informed the lawyers that the police had not taken measures against the sitting during the last five days,” said the activist. “But now, it was the government’s policy to vacate roads and roads.”
The General Secretary General of the Great Democratic Alliance (GDA), Dr. Safdar Ali Abbasi, in a statement, condemned the police repression for “the sitting peaceful protest against the construction of channels and assignments of illegal lands in several cities of Sindh, which resulted in injuries and arrests of dozens, including lawyers.”
“The police action on peaceful protests of the Government of Sindh has revived the memories of the dictatorial government,” said the statement. “The ongoing protest movement in Sindh during the last eight months had remained peaceful.”
He said there was no damage in Sindh, or stone fight. “A single vehicle window had not even broken during the protests,” he added.
“The PPP is trying without success to crush the peaceful movement through police brutality,” he said, urging the rulers to reach their senses and warning that such tactics would not suppress the ongoing movement.
Dr. Abbasi promised that peaceful protests in Sindh would continue.
“We demand the immediate release of all detainees. The legal fraternity is not alone and the people of Sindh are with them.”
