It was feared that several Pakistani migrants were among the dead after a ship overturned near the port of Marsa Dela, northwest of the city of Zawiya in Libya in February. The boat transported around 65 passengers at the time of the accident.
The development followed a similar incident in January in which a boat that transported 80 passengers overturned near Morocco. Although the identities of at least 13 Pakistani in the incident were confirmed, according to the reports, more than 40 Pakistani were killed by traffickers of African people in the boat and only 22 survived the tragedy.
Previous tragedies of the ship
In December, some 40 Pakistani died in incidents of boat overturning off the coast of Greece, with 35 of them allegedly dead after disappearing. According to the FO, 47 Pakistani were among those rescued.
Around 50 officials of the Federal Research Agency were reserved and fired from the service for their alleged collusion with human smugglers to illegally send the Pakistani abroad. Similarly, 65 FIA officials were on the blacklist to publish at any immigration verification position.
The ship’s tragedies have led FIA to introduce a “rigorous exam” in all the country’s airports, as a result of which it downloaded 2,500 passengers in January only at Lahore airport.
In June 2023, hundreds of migrants drowned when a crowded ship overturned and sank into international waters in front of the southwest Greek coastal city of Pylos. It was one of the most mortal boat disasters in the Mediterranean Sea and there were at least 209 Pakistani in the boat.
In April of the same year, the Pakistani were among dead dozens when two migrant ships sank into the Mediterranean in different cities in western Libya.
At the beginning of February, the Pakistani were among 59 people killed when a wooden sailboat transported migrants collided with rocks on the southern coast of Italy.
