Jabalpur: Two girls drowned in a channel and a third disappears, feared dead, in the MP Katni district.
The missing girl, an eight -year -old girl, may have jumped into the water to save the other two girls, one of which was her older sister, says the police.
Four girls, Siddhi Patel, 12, her sister Manvi, 8, and her friends Ananya Patel, 6, and Aanshik Patel, 14, had gone to bathe in a channel in the village of Umariyapan, about 40 km from the headquarters of the Katni district and 370 km of Bhopal, on Saturday.
First they bathed Manvi and sat it at the Bank of the Canal, after which the other three returned to the water, said Sp abhijet ranjan. Siddhi and Aanshik slide into deeper waters and began to panic. Upon realizing that they were drowning, Ananya, six years old, ran back to the town to get help. When a rescue party and the police arrived at the scene, they discovered that Manvi was also missing.
