2 cell phones seized in Kathua jail, probe ordered | India News


JAMMU: The Kathua prison authorities, during a routine search operation within the prison, seized a two inmate cell phone earlier this week, exposing an important period in the high security prison that houses some unconditional criminals, including gangsters and terrorists.
Official sources said that both cell phones were basic models. An investigation was ordered to discover how devices were brought within the prison. The authorities assured a strict action against the culprits.
In October 2024, the famous gangster and the murder accused Arun Choudhary aka Abu Jatt offered a tour of the Kathua prison in a video after which he was transferred to another prison. Choudhary said he had bribed the RS 2 Lakh prison officials to get access to a cell phone. In April of last year, a cell phone was recovered within the prison complex in the Ambphalla district prison in the city of Jammu.
