Bhopal: Around 190 patients were evacuated after a fire broke out in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Kamla Raja Raja Hospital of Gwalior, part of the Gajra Raja Medical College, early on Sunday. The fire began after an explosion in an air conditioning unit of the work room. All patients have been transferred to a nearby hospital.
The sources said the UCI and the maternity room, adjacent to the work room, were filled with smoke. The staff and hospital attendees broke the windows to quickly move patients. The evacuation continued until 4 am.
The Ruchika Chouhan district collector ordered investigation into the incident. At the time of the incident, 16 women were inside the work room and around 50 in the maternity hall. The nearby pediatric room also had some children. TNN
