Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s government said Monday that more than 150 bunkers have demolished in Kurram since the process began last month with a deadline established for the demolition to be completed before March 23.
The clashes derived from decades of decades have gained at least 130 lives since November, with a shortage of food and medications reported due to the blocks of the one -week road.
After months of violence, a peace agreement was signed between the sides at war on January 1. Despite a pause in the fight, the route that connects to Parachinar with the rest of the province remained blocked.
However, on January 4, a convoy of the Government was attacked near the Bagan area, in which Kurram’s deputy commissioner also suffered injuries.
Today, a KP Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, was informed about the decisions of the Provincial Government for Sustainable Peace in the Kurram district, said an official statement from the KP government.
The cabinet was informed that since October of last year, 189 people have died in several clashes, and a peace agreement was signed as a result of the government’s efforts to control the situation. So far, a total of nine convoys that comprise 718 vehicles that transport essential goods to the area have been sent and there is currently no shortage of essential goods in the region, the cabinet was told.
The first convoy had reached the parachute on January 8 after being trapped on the border of Hagu-Kurram for several days after an attack against Kurram DC Mehsud. Last Sunday, a convoy of 120 vehicles was sent that transported Hangu aid articles from Thall Tehsil in Hagu to the Kurram district.
Heli’s services were introduced to Kurram on special instructions from CM Gandapur. Until now, 153 flights have been sent through two helicopters that have transported some 4,000 people, it was told to the cabinet.
They were also told to the cabinet members that until now 19,000 kilograms of medicine have been sent to the region to overcome the shortage.
A total of 151 bunkers have been demolished so far after the process began last month. A deadline of March 23 has been established to complete the demolition.
In the light of the Cabinet decision, a special security force of Kurram Road’s security is being established, for which the work is underway to establish temporary and permanent security positions. A total of 120 security posts will be established in Kurram Road, it was told to the cabinet.
The provincial cabinet has approved the recruitment of 407 personnel for deployment in these security positions, which will be provided with necessary equipment worth 764 million.
It is estimated that 480 million RS have been made for the restoration of Bagan Bazaar destroyed, the cabinet was informed.
