The Punjab Drowthrism Department (CTD) arrested 10 terrorists after 73 intelligence -based operations (IBO) throughout the province, said the law agency in a statement on Saturday.
The CTD regularly performs operations throughout the province to prevent and investigate activities related to terrorism and gather intelligence. Operating under the provincial police department, the Punjab CTD plays a key role in maintaining internal security and counteracting terrorism within the country.
The statement cited a CTD spokesman saying: “The CTD made 73 Ibo in different Punjab cities due to the terrorist threat.”
“10 terrorists arrested during intelligence -based operation[s]. “
The operations were carried out in Rawalpindi, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar and Jalam, according to the spokesman.
Two dangerous terrorists, affiliated with the tehreek-i-taliban Pakistan (TTP), were arrested from Khushab and Jhelum, according to the statement.
The CTD recovered explosives, an FDI pump, an detonator, 35 -foot security fuses wire, brochures, effective and mobile phones.
The terrorists were identified as Riaz, Shafiq, Rashid, Javed, Zaheer, Zaheeruddin, Hafeez, Wazir, Asif and Waheed.
The statement also said: “Terrorists wanted to spread fear and panic among people performing operations in different places.”
He added that 107 suspects were arrested for 758 combination operations and 30,394 people were interrogated in those carried out last week.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities during the past year, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan, after the TTP finished its high fire with the government in November 2022.
