Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday that his relations with the United States can still be repaired, after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, shouted in an angry White House crisis accusing the Ukrainian leader of refusing to make peace with Russia.
“Of course,” Zelensky said when asked in a Fox News Interview if the relationship with Trump could be rescued.
American-Ukrainian ties are about “more than two presidents,” he said, adding that Ukraine seriously needs Washington’s help in the fight against the much larger and more armed military in Russia.
“It will be difficult without your support,” Zelensky said in Fox – Trump’s favorite news channel.
The Zelensky Olive Branch occurred hours after the extraordinary scene of the Oval Office, where US American support policy of the Ukraine struggle against Russian invasion collapsed in a shout match.
The row saw European leaders fight against voice support for Ukraine after Zelensky was forced to leave the White House early and without signing a mineral exchange agreement seen as vital for an eventual truce negotiated in the United States.
During the clash, he developed in front of the US and international media, Trump and vice president JD Vance shouted to Zelensky, accusing him of not being “grateful” and refusing to accept their proposed truce terms.
“You don’t have the cards at this time,” Trump said. “You’re going to make a deal or we’re out, and if we’re out, you’ll fight and I don’t think it’s pretty.”
Zelensky departed shortly after, with Trump publishing on social networks that “can return when he is ready for peace.”
