Islamabad: In the midst of the concerns of the PTI of the main party of the opposition that the government remains firm to boost the controversial legislation, including the 27th constitutional amendment, in the next few days, the president of the Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani and the president of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, met Friday to discuss issues of national importance.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari has convened a session of the National Assembly on September 1 (Monday) at 5pm at the House of Parliament, according to a press release issued by the Presidency.
According to the Senate Secretariat, Mr. Gilani and Mr. Sadiq focused on strengthening institutional cooperation between the two houses of Parliament and improving coordination on national and international issues.

The president summons the na session on September 1
During his meeting at the residence of the president of the Senate, Gilani informed SADIQ about the preparations for the next conference of interparliamentary speakers, scheduled for November 11 to 12. The event will bring together representatives from more than 45 countries, marking one of the largest multilateral parliamentary meetings ever organized by Pakistan.
Gilani said the conference would address key global challenges, including regional peace, sustainable development, climate change and the need for collective strategies to address emerging threats.
Sadiq assured Mr. Gilani about the full support of the National Assembly to guarantee the successful organization of the conference, expressing his confidence that the event would serve as a significant opportunity for Pakistan to show his commitment to global dialogue, cooperation and construction of peace.
Both leaders also discussed the predominant political and economic situation in the country, with a particular approach to the devastating impact of recent rains and floods. They expressed concern about the exacerbative situation caused by the release of the flood waters of India in the Punjab rivers, which has intensified human and material losses in the affected areas.
In the light of natural calamity, the president of the Senate and the president of the National Assembly appealed to the people of Pakistan to take precautionary measures and cooperate completely with the government and the relevant authorities. They emphasized the need for national efforts from United to minimize casualties and reduce financial damage.
