Saldívar was president of the Selena Fans Club and manager of two of his clothing boutiques before killing the 23 -year -old singer.

Selena’s family dismissed Saldívar in early 1995, accusing her of embezzlement of the admirers and boutiques club.

Selena was shot in the back, Saldívar followed her until the singer collapsed in the lobby, and Saldívar locked up in a truck outside and threatened to commit suicide, according to documents of the Court of Appeal. Before Selena lost knowledge, she told Motel employees that they shot her, they said.

A jury found Saldívar guilty of first degree murder in October 1995, and was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of probation.

Saldívar said he did not want to kill Selena and bought the .38 caliber revolver to commit suicide. His defense at the trial argued that the weapon accidentally fired and hit Selena.

Selena’s successes included “Dreaming of You”, which rose to 22 at the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995, the year she was killed. He had five successes No. 1 on the Hot Latin Billboard tracks, including “I don’t have more”, and won the Grammy Award for the best Mexico American album in 1994 for “Live”.

His life was commemorated in the 1997 film “Selena”, starring Jennifer López.

Saldívar spoke about the murder in an oxygen documentation of 2024, “Selena and Yolanda: the secrets between them”, in which he denied that he embezzled money and said, without evidence, that he was covering the extramarital issue of Selena.

The documentary outraged some fans before it was broadcast.

Saldíva presented a request for probation in January.

A file was prepared that included judicial documents and other materials, said the Board, and was sent to a three -people probation panel. A simple majority is needed. The statement of the State Board did not reveal the vote.

“The reason provided by the panel for denial was the nature of the crime: the registration indicates that the crime has elements of brutality, violence, aggressive behavior or conscious selection of the vulnerability of the victim that indicates a conscious contempt for the life, security or property of others, so that the offender presents a continuous threat to public security”, the Board of Indicators and Paroles.
