Yes, it’s called HBO Max again

The Max Transmission Service is changing its name once again, but users will be familiar with the new brand: HBO Max.

The decision was announced on Wednesday by Warner Bros. Discovery during a presentation in New York. The name change is scheduled for this summer.

The change restores the recognizable HBO brand, which has been a kind of adventure since the first days of the transmission services. It is something that the company leaned on Wednesday, publishing a series of publications for the fun of social networks at its own cost.

In a meme, a dove is at the top of the famous WB water tower while the white smoke balance of a fireplace, a reference to the recent conclave to select a new Pope. “A new brand has been chosen,” says the description.

In 2010, HBO called “HBO GO” transmission service. In 2014, the company renamed the next iteration of a subscription transmission service to “HBO Now”. In 2020, HBO added for the first time the title “Max” to become “HBO Max”, since it launched an independent transmission service. The brand had been introduced a year earlier. Then, in 2023, the company announced that it would launch the “HBO” and would simply be known as “Max.” Now, the company is returning to the name “HBO Max”.

“With the course in which we are and a strong impulse that we are enjoying, we believe that HBO Max much better represents our current consumer proposal. And clearly establishes our implicit promise to offer content that is recognized as unique and, to steal a line that we always said in HBO, which is worth paying,” said Casey Bloys, president and CEO of HBO and Max content, in a statement.

The Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, David Zaslav said in a statement that the company decided to reintroduce to HBO nickname because “it represents the highest quality in the media.”

In a press release, Warner Bros. Discovery said that his transmission business could increase profitability in the last two years, expanding its global transmission base for 22 million subscribers. He also said he was trying to have another 150 million clients paid by the end of 2026.

The company said it plans to prioritize box office movies, docuseries, certain series of reality and original content while moving away from other genres that drive less commitment.
