Ye website down after selling swastika shirts, ecommerce platform says site violated terms

The website led by Ye, which had been selling shirts with a swastika, was offline on Tuesday morning after the electronic commerce platform that Use said that the site had violated its rules.

Shopify said in a statement to NBC News: “All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not participate in authentic trade practices and violated our terms, so we eliminate them from Shopify.”

The site redirected a notice that said “this store is not available” on Tuesday morning.

Shopify is a widely used electronic commerce platform that use a range of websites and companies to sell products. The company did not say which of its rules had violated the site, but its terms of service establish that it will act “to restrict the products or activities that we consider insecure, inappropriate or offensive.”

Ye, the rapper previously known as Kanye West, used a Super Bowl commercial on Sunday night to boost traffic to its website, which during the weekend began selling white shirts with a black swastika, the symbol of the Nazi Germany and a widely recognized symbol of anti -Semitic hatred.

In recent days he has been publishing an anti -Semitic message in X, including the statements that he is a Nazi, although his account was deactivated on Monday.

NBC News asked NBC spokesman to reaction to Shopify’s decision, but had not received an answer at the time of publication.
