World designing forum showcases Indian handloom | India News


The 2024 National Designer Awards, organized by World Designing Forumhighlighted India hand loom heritage in Goa. The event featured 300 designers presenting textiles such as Pashmina from Kashmir and Kanjeevaram silk from Tamil Nadu. More than 100 international guests participated in the event, including fashion experts.
The focus was on adapting handloom to modern fashion while preserving traditional techniques. The panel discussions covered topics such as global supply chains, e-commerce for artisans and the role of handlooms in rural economic development.
The Forum, with its network of 25,000 designers, aims to modernize and promote Indian handloom. International interest in the sector is growing, contributing to India’s position in sustainable and artisanal fashion.
