Dozen people in Gaza gathered on Monday for the funeral of five Al Jazeera Personnel members and a sixth reporter killed in an Israeli strike, in an attack that attracted generalized convictions around the world.
Israel has faced increasing international criticisms about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza caused by its offensive since October 2023, with Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and experts who already declare their actions in Gaza as a “genocide”, which Tel Aviv rejects.
Anas Al Sharif, 28, was among a group of four Al Jazeera journalists and an assistant who were killed in a “directed assault” in a tent in front of the Shifa hospital in the east of Gaza, Gaza and Gaza officials Al Jazeera saying. “The Pakistan government asks the international community to take immediate and decisive measures to end Israeli impunity, guarantee the protection of civilians and hold Israel for their actions,” said a statement from the foreign office.
Qatar
Qatar’s prime minister criticized Israel for killing journalists, describing deaths as “crimes beyond imagination.”
“The deliberate orientation of Israel’s journalists in the Gaza Strip reveals how these crimes are beyond imagination … May God have mercy on journalists Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qraiqea and his colleagues,” said Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in a position in X.
United Kingdom
The British prime minister, Keir Starmer, was “seriously worried” about the repeated orientation of journalists in Gaza, according to his spokesman.
“We are seriously concerned about the repeated orientation of journalists in Gaza,” said Starmer’s spokesman for journalists.
“Reporters who cover conflicts have protection under international humanitarian law, and journalists must be able to inform independently, without fear, and Israel must ensure that journalists can carry out their work safely.”
When asked about the statement that one of the journalists was linked to Hamas, the Starmer spokesman said: “That must be thoroughly and independent investigated, but we are seriously concerned about the repeated orientation of journalists.”
United Nations
The UN Human Rights Agency also condemned the murder, qualifying it as “serious violation of international humanitarian law.”
In an X publication, the UN High Commissioner Office for Human Rights Volker Turk said: “Israel must respect and protect all civilians, including journalists,” and said that at least 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Gaza since the conflict began in October 2023.
“We make immediate, safe and obstacle access to Gaza for all journalists,” he added.
Iran
The spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, asked the world to realize Israel, Al Jazeera reported.
“A press badge is not a shield against genocidal war criminals that fear the world to witness their atrocities,” said Baghaei, accusing Israel of murdering journalists “in cold blood.”

Reporters without borders
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) condemned the “murder recognized by the Israeli army” of Al Sharif in Gaza.

Amnesty International said that the statements made by Israeli forces about Sharif were “completely without foundation and without evidence”, adding that they followed a pattern of similar statements and threats.
“Israeli forces have repeatedly marked journalists, humanitarian workers and health workers in Gaza as ‘terrorists’, a pattern that has allowed the deliberate orientation and murder of these people with total impunity.”
Amnesty requested an independent and impartial investigation into the murders of Palestinian journalists, with “justice and total reparation for their families”, saying that states must “act urgently to put an end to Israel’s genocide now.”
