His comments came in response to a statement by Mayor Anjum Ara, who had requested a two -hour break in Holi’s celebrations on March 14, which coincides with Friday’s prayers during Ramzan.
In his statement, Ara urged residents to stop Holi’s festivities from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, saying: “Jumma’s time cannot be extended, so there should be a two -hour break in Holi.”
He also requested that those who celebrate Holi maintain the distance from mosques and places of prayer during this time.
The district administration issued the statement after a meeting of the Peace Committee before the festival.
