A girlfriend was shot dead hours before her wedding procession in Lahore on Thursday, according to a statement from the Edhi Foundation, while the victim’s family claimed that her brother -in -law was the culprit.
According to today’s statement, the 23 -year -old was shot in the head on Thursday morning, pointing out that it was the day of her wedding procession.
“The police and forensic team collected evidence and launched an investigation,” said the statement. “After the police and investigation agencies completed their work, the body was transferred to the morgue by an Edhi ambulance.
However, the victim’s mother, Jameela Bibi, claimed that her son -in -law had “murdered the girl” and that the action should be taken against him.

Meanwhile, the victim’s uncle, Shoukat Ali, said Dawn.com that the suspect shot the girl after she went to sleep.

The first information report (FIR) was registered at the Latchore Police Station in Lahore under section 302 (Punishment for murder) of the Pakistan Criminal Code in the mother’s complaint.
The FIR said his daughter was shot dead in the early hours of Thursday morning.
“After the Mehndi, we had many guests housed in our house,” he said at the FIR.
“At 5:30 am on Thursday, we suddenly heard shots. My other daughter, brother -in -law and I saw [the suspect] running from the room with a gun in your hand. My daughter (the victim) was lying in bed in a pool of her own blood, with blood that flows from her head, ”he added.
Violence against women is still common in Pakistan. Last month, the police arrested a woman for allegedly killing her husband’s second wife and throwing the body in a room adjacent to her home in the Liaquatabad de Lahore area.
Worldwide, 85,000 women and girls were intentionally killed in 2023, according to a report on femicides published in November last year.
