A woman, supposedly involved in the sale of narcotics, was killed after jumping from the fourth floor of her apartment building in Karachi while trying to evade the arrest, police said on Sunday.
Talking with Dawn.comThe Darakshan Police Station Officer, Shahid Taj, said his team had arrested an alleged drug seller as part of the ongoing repression against narcotics.
During the interrogation, the suspect said that the woman decides, 35, was her partner in the drug business. Consequently, the police team raided their floor in the Muslim commercial area to arrest it on Saturday night.
“The police caught his door several times, but she didn’t open her. Her parents, along with some of her friends, came to her department to try to convince her, but she didn’t give up, ”Taj said.
An initial police report said the suspect had jumped at his death from the balcony. Additional investigation, however, showed that the woman fell after a water pipe outside the balcony she was enduring.
The incident was classified as an accident, not as suicide. More investigations on the incident were underway, the police added.
She suffered critical injuries and was transported to the Jinnah postgraduate medical center, where she died during treatment.
Police surgeon Dr. Sumaiya Syed said that the woman’s post mortem was rejected by her father, who removed her body without completing legal formalities.
Sho Taj said that the deceased, who belonged to a well -off family, was not only a drug addict but also used to sell narcotics. “She lived alone on the floor after the separation of her husband, with whom she had a daughter.”
He said the smuggers were also found on the floor.
Separately, according to police statements, three alleged thieves were shot dead in two separate meetings in the city early in the morning.
Kalri police said the meeting took place at Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road, where, after an exchange of shooting, two suspects were killed.
Two guns, two cell phones raised and a motorcycle were recovered from their custody, according to the statement.
Police said that the shots took place during the patrol. The bodies were transferred to the Karachi Civil Hospital for legal formalities.
In the second incident in the city of Shah Latif, a suspect was shot dead and another was injured, police said in a statement.
The police statement added that the suspect was shot dead and his accomplice was injured, while three passers -by were injured.
The statement said the police party was patrolling near Quaidabad when they asked two suspects who set up a motorcycle that stopped.
They accelerated and turned to shoot in their attempt to flee.
When the police pursued them, and in an exchange of layoffs, a suspect was killed while another was arrested, said Malir Superintendent of Malir Kashif Abbasi.
SSP Abbasi said the suspects were looting citizens in the area, and added that citizens were injured by the suspects.
He said the condition of the three injured was out of danger.
