The Windsor police announced Friday that they have made multiple arrests in a recent whiskey robbery of $ 500,000, but that they are still looking for more suspects.
The Windsor police service said Thursday, the officers arrested five people in the city and the surrounding county. The suspects are accused of a list of crimes related to the alleged theft of more than 1,000 boxes of real Crown products of a truck trailer.
“The non -delayed value of stolen articles was $ 61,000,” Windsor Police David Deluca said at a press conference on Friday. “However, the retail value is more than half a million, so it is a very valuable product.”
The police say that on the night of May 17, several suspects stole the trailer of commercial trucks loaded with Titanium Transportation Group, a transport business surrounded near the Devonshire shopping center. The empty trailer was found the next day in County Road 46 block, police said.
“The stolen whiskey, which had a retail value of more than $ 500,000, is still missing,” police said in a press release on Friday.
Deluca specified that researchers have so far found 66 of the liquor boxes, which contained regular varieties of Crown Royal and Peach and apple flavor.
“We have several places that are still under investigation,” he said. “We have executed two arrest orders so far in places.”
The Canadian whiskey, produced by Diageo, came from the company’s Amherstburg plant, he said. Diageo did not immediately respond to a comment request on Friday.

The Windsor police in its statement said that the Service Objective Base Unit launched the investigation and quickly identified five accused suspects, who are ages between 27 and 57 years.
The five are accused of conspiracy to commit an accusable crime, while four are also accused of possession of stolen property with the purpose of traffic greater than $ 5,000. A man is accused of breaking and entering a place other than a house and the theft of a motorized vehicle as well.
“There is always video available,” Deluca said. “You are under video 24 hours a day when you pass through the city. So, using those research techniques, we can identify vehicles and suspects, which led us to these arrests.”
Deluca said officers have also confiscated two vehicles as part of the case.
Police last week published surveillance images that show a truck that goes back to the doors of a transport truck parked in an unidentified lot.
Windsor police are looking for answers after thieves took around 1,000 boxes from Crown Royal of a transport truck. The retail liquor value is estimated at $ 500,000.
“There was a rental truck that we believe has been used to transport part of stolen alcohol on the road to 401, going east to cities like London and perhaps even more east,” const. Bianca Jackson, a WPS spokeswoman, said at that time.
The researchers now look for two more suspects, one of which they described as “a white man, approximately 40 years of age, with a complete dark beard” that carried a baseball cap and a dark sweatshirt at the time of the alleged robbery.
The other suspect is a white man in about thirty years who also wore a dark sweatshirt, as well as shorts and black shoes, police said.
“The investigation is ongoing and other arrests are anticipated,” police said.

Jackson said last week that Windsor police officers were working with other forces in the region to locate suspects.
“In my time here, I can’t say that I remembered having seen something like that before,” he said.
