Will Smith makes music again that “slap” after throwing “based on a real story” on Friday, after a 20 -year parenthesis of throwing albums, and immediately addresses his infamous Oscar incident with Chris Rock in 2022.
The album’s opening song, “Int. Barbershop – Day”, presents DJ Jazzy Jeff, B. Simone and Smith as characters grooveing about Smith’s reputation.
“Will Smith was canceled,” the song opens with the barber talk. “Who the F — Will Smith believes that it is? … I’ve never forgive him for those things he did.”
Smith then talks about the character about the moment that led him to be expelled from the Oscar for a decade, when he slapped Rock during the live television broadcast of the Academy Awards ceremony.
“I heard badly / I heard that he won the Oscar, but he had to return it / and you know that they only did that because it is black,” says the song.
“You wish to have a Jada Pinkett by your side / he and Jada, both crazy, girl, what you are talking about, better, keep the name of his wife out of your mouth.”
In the second song, “Are you looking for me?”, Smith leans on his return.
“I took a lot / I am back at the top / all of you, you have to acclimatize / I will not stop my shit still hot even though they will not name me.”
Three years have passed since the moment called “slap heard worldwide”, where Smith walked on stage during the 94th Academy Awards and hit Rock for making a joke on Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
While presenting the Oscar for the best documentary film, Rock said he was excited to see Pinkett Smith, who was bald at that time, in “Gi Jane 2”.
Smith marched on stage at the Dolby and Hit Rock Theater, appearing to shout the words: “Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth!”
Pinkett Smith opened about his diagnosis of Alopecia in 2018. “Gi Jane” by Ridley Scott is an action film of 1997 starring Demi Moore as a woman who joins the Navy and shaves her head during her military service.
