NEW DELHI: When Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was asked what should be the issues of concern for the country compared to 10 years ago, he said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government believed that “resources should be distributed more fairly,” unlike the BJP, which claimed it has been “aggressive for growth.”
During your interaction with IIT Madras students, the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha maintained his views on the social and international front.
“In the Congress and in the UPA, we generally believed that resources should be distributed more fairly and that growth should be broader. In the BJP, they are more aggressive about growth, they believe in what in economic terms is called ‘trickle’,” Rahul Gandhi said when asked what should be part of the national conversation compared to a decade ago.
He further said: “On the social front we believe that the more harmonious the society is, the less people will fight and the better it will be for the country. international relations “On this front, there will probably be some differences in how we engage with other countries, but overall it will be similar.”
Rahul Gandhi shared a video of his interaction with IIT Madras students on Saturday, pointing out the need for India to prioritize quality education through government support rather than privatization.
“I feel that a country needs to guarantee quality education to its people. And I don’t think that the best way to guarantee quality education to our people is to privatize everything,” he said.
The BJP dismissed Gandhi’s comments, calling them “sermons through choreographed videos” and pointing to major education reforms under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
