Water shortage to worsen in Karachi with bowser service suspension on Eid – Pakistan

Karachi: As citizens continue to face the shortage of acute water in many parts of Karachi, the suspension of the water water service during the first two days of Eidul Fitr is obliged to add to their problems.

The city, which supplies almost half of the water of its daily requirement through the supply and ruined distribution network of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), has already been receiving shortage during the last days when an energy breakdown at the Dhabeji pumping station affected its regular function.

The residents said that the shortage of water during the three days of EID was obliged to lead to a significant inconvenience for them, since they were forced to limit their use of water.

The worst affected are parts of the Central, West and Keamari districts, although the situation in some parts of other districts was no different when the water had not fluid through the main pipes in recent days. The situation has forced people to opt for water oil tankers to meet their daily requirements.

The KWSC Chief orders officials to guarantee the supply to those who had reserved water oil tankers

Some residents of the west and central districts even carried their clothes, sheets and curtains, to other houses to wash them for EID preparations.

Shakeel Ahmed, a Korangi resident, said he had to take his family to a relative for Sehri since there was no water at home. “I tried to get a water oil tanker, but they told me that there was no possibility of any oil tanker from Sunday to Eid holidays,” he growled.

With the suspension of the water tanker service during EID holidays, the most affected areas will be the salubres of the city, including the Defense and Clifton Housing Authority, since many residents trust swirls for the water supply.

Khalid Ahmed de Clifton said there was always a shortage of acute water during eid days. “Obviously, it is created by water service officials with the collusion of the mafia of the tankers to extract money from people on such occasions,” he said.

Meanwhile, the KWSC CEO, Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, had ordered water service officials to guarantee the delivery of all water tankers reserved online before Eidul Fitr.

In a statement, Siddiqui said that the oil service would be temporarily suspended on March 31 (Monday) and April 1 (Tuesday) due to the holidays.

However, he said that the service would be available only in Windows Hyrant on April 2, where customers could easily collect their tank trucks. “As of April 3, the oil service will be restored through the mobile application in all hydrants,” he added.

The Chief of Public Water Services ordered officials to guarantee SUPAVES WATER AND SEWER SUPPLY SERVICES during EID to avoid any inconvenience for citizens.

He stressed that all mosques, Eidgahs, Imambargahs and Madrasas should have a clean environment so that people can perform their religious duties without any interruption.
