Victorious India team gets $6.7m bonus for Champions Trophy win – Sport

The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) delivered its team, which claimed the title of Champions Trophy earlier this month, a cash bonus of $ 6.72 million on Thursday, an amount three times more than the winning bag for the 50 Overs tournament.

Rohit Sharma and his men beat New Zealand for four WICKETS in the final of March 9 in Dubai to win their second successive global title, after their triumph of the Twenty20 World Cup last year last year. The team took $ 2.24 million home for the victory of the Champions Trophy.

The BCCI, the richest Cricket board in the world, announced an additional Indian rupee of 580 million for the players, support staff and members of the selection committee for their last success in an International Tournament of the Cricket Council (ICC).

“Winning the consecutive ICC titles is special and this reward recognizes the dedication and excellence of the Indian team on the global stage,” said BCCI president Roger Binny, in a statement.

“The cash prize is a recognition of the hard work that everyone puts behind the scene.” The Secretary of the Board, Devajit Saikia, said the players deserved the bonus for the recent domain of the limited Cricket India.

“This victory has justified the upper classification of India in the white ball cryket, and we are sure that the team will continue to stand out in the coming years,” said Saikia.
