Vic Fangio feels good about Eagles’ pass rush despite offseason departures

The Eagles pass race that relentlessly pressed Patrick Mahomes was a large part of the reason they won the Super Bowl Lix, but that pass fever will look different in 2025: Josh Sweat, who led the team in captures in the regular season and had 2.5 captures in the Super Bowl, has gone. Milton Williams, who was third in the team in captures in the regular season and had two captures in the Super Bowl, left. The defensive extremes Brandon Graham and Bryce Huff are gone.

But the Eagles defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, is not worried.

Fangio mentioned Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari as players with whom he thinks he can count to be a large part of the pass this season.

“I feel good with Nolan,” Fangio said. “I think we will feel good with Jalyx now that he will get many repetitions and develop. He played well for us in the section last year, and played a lot, as you saw, so I feel good with those two boys, and I think they will continue to improve. We have Uche, we have Azeez, we have three other boys there. I think we will be fine.”

The Eagles suffered great losses in defense in free agency, but Fangio has repeatedly said that he trusts the general manager of Howie Roseman to give him a list with which he may succeed. The list will look different in 2025, but that does not mean that I can’t land again in the Super Bowl.
