William “Rick” singer, the intellectual author of a university admissions trap scheme throughout the country, can return to work as a university consultant as long as he reveals his criminal record to new clients, a federal judge ruled on Monday.
The 62 -year -old singer declared himself guilty in 2019 of extortion conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy and other positions in relation to the scandal, the operation of the Warsity Blues operation. He was sentenced to 3½ years in prison in 2023, but released a house halfway in Los Angeles last year.
After his release from the prison, Singer launched a new company, ID Future Stars, to advise possible university students about their university requests. The main district judge Denise Casper ruled that Singer can continue her work as a university consultant as long as the following statement is “prominently” on her company’s website:
“In March 2019, Rick Singer declared himself guilty of federal charges that include extortion conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy, conspiracy to defraud the United States and the obstruction of justice for his role in what was widely publicized as the scheme of university admissions of ‘Warsity Blues’,” says the statement.

ID Future Stars did not immediately return a request for comments.
The company’s website says that future identification stars serve thousands of applicants in the United States and abroad and promises “an acceptance rate of 80-96% for first-option schools and more than 90% within the list of their 3 main options.”

More than 50 people, including parents and university coaches, were convicted in the case. The scandal caught the special attention to catch the actors of Hollywood Lori Laughlin and Felicity Huffman, who hired Singer to help assure their daughters to elite universities.
Both actors served short periods in prison for their participation in the case.
