The court said that the FIR must register against the former sho for crimes under section 295a (deliberate and malicious acts destined to outrak religious feelings of any kind insulting their religion or religious beliefs), 323 (voluntarily causing pain), 342 (unjustified confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Criminal Code, 1860.
Delhi HC had transferred in August 2024 to the death of Faizan, 23, who was part of the CBI group. It has been alleged that Faizan died due to the torture of custody by police officers at the Jyoti Nagar police station.
The incident is related to a video filmed during the Delhi 2020 riots that had become viral on social networks.
