Vance says he supports rehiring DOGE staffer who resigned over racist social media posts


Vice President JD Vance said Friday that he would support the rehission of a member of Doge staff who resigned after it was discovered that he had made racist comments online.

The staff member, Marko Elez, 25, resigned from the Government Efficiency Department (Doge) on Thursday after the Wall Street Journal reported that he had commented online that they included supporting racism and eugenics. The White House confirmed to NBC News that Elez had resigned.

Vance made the comments about X, publishing a survey by Dogle Elon Musk chief asking if the staff member should be returned.

“Obviously I do not agree with some of Elez’s publications, but I don’t think the stupid activity of social networks should ruin a child’s life,” Vance wrote. “We should not reward journalists who try to destroy people. Ever.”

“Then I say that it is back,” Vance continued. “If it is a bad guy or a terrible member of the team, say goodbye for that.”

A Vance spokesman refused to make the position.

The Wall Street Journal said that he reviewed archived publications of an X -deleted X account used by Elez in which he published messages such as “only for registration, was racist before it was great” and “could not be paid to marry outside my ethnic group. .. normalizes Indian hatred. ” NBC News has not seen or verified those publications.

The Journal reported that the publications were made by an account, @nulllptr, which previously passed by @Marko_elez, and that the account said they were employees of Spacex and Starlink, which coincide with the experience of Elez published on their personal website.

A text message and a phone call to a number associated with ELEZ were not immediately returned, and did not comment to the newspaper.

Vance’s comments occur when Musk’s Dux has embarked on a broad effort to reduce government workforce. The Trump administration has also tried to eliminate the roles focused on social justice initiatives.

Elez was one of a paint of young countences of musk that joined Doge as part of what Musk has said that it is an effort aimed at “dismantling the government of the shadow of the radical left.” That has included personnel focused on government -free technology, some of which have left behind the considerable traces of social networks.

Rolling Stone reported that Gavin Kiger, another member of the Doge staff, had re -published Nick Fuentes content, a white nationalist who has dinner with President Donald Trump.

Kiger did not immediately respond to requests for comments sent through LinkedIn and email.
