Valerie Mahaffey, known for playing Eve in the television series of the 90s “Northern Exposure”, has died. She was 71 years old.
The Emmy winning actor died after a battle against cancer, confirmed his publicist in a statement.
In addition to starring “Northern Exposure”, Mahaffey is known for playing Bitsy in Adam Sandler’s movie “Jack and Jill” and Annie in “Seabiscuit” of 2003. He also made notable appearances in programs such as “Gray’s Anatomy” and “Shout Housewives”.
Mahaffey was born in Indonesia in 1953. She went on to live in Nigeria, England, Canada and Texas. Her husband Joseph Kell and her daughter, Alice Richards survive.
“I have lost the love of my life, and the United States has lost one of its most endearing actresses,” Kell said in a statement to Today.com. “It will miss it.”
Mahaffey began acting in the 70s when he reserved the role of Catherine Howard in the Broadway musical “Rex”. While in New York City, he also took the stage for productions, including “Dracula” and “Fearless Frank”. In 1977, he assured a small wallpaper in the television movie “Tell Me My Name” before playing Ashley Bennett in the soap opera “The Doctors”.
That role earned Mahaffey a nomination for Emmy during the day in 1980. His first Emmy was taken home in 1992, winning an outstanding support actress in a dramatic series for his work in “North Exhibition.”
In X, fans cried their death and celebrated their past performances.
“Very tragic. Very sad. Actima Frivation incredible. Look at her at the French exit,” an account said.
