Nueva Delhi: The 23 -year -old law student Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, accused of killing a woman and hurting another four with a speeding car in Vadodara, has denied being under the influence of alcohol during the accident. He affirmed that the incident occurred after the air bags in his car suddenly deployed, hindering his vision.
Chaurasia said he wants to meet the victims’ family and respect what they want.
“We were advancing the Scooty, we were turning right and there was a pothole along the way. There was a scooty and a car while we turned right … the car played the other vehicle slightly and the air bag suddenly opened, our vision was hindered and the car went out. We were going 50 km/hour, ”said Chaurasia.
“There were no people at that time, just a scooter and a car. I had no idea. I did not have any party, I went for Holika Dahan and I was not drunk … today, they told me that a woman has died and that some have suffered wounds. I want to meet the family of the victims, it is my fault and what they want to happen, ”he added.
This occurs a day after a car at full speed driven by a 20 -year -old law student crashed into two -wheeled vehicles in the city of Vadodara in the early hours of Friday.
The accident occurred around 12:30 am near Muktanand Cross Roads in the Karelibauug area. After the accident, the driver, Chaurasia, was arrested, said police commissioner Panna Momaya.
Near the Amrapali complex, Chaurasia hit a woman for the first time in a two -wheeled vehicle before knocking down two other cyclists. The impact was so severe that the car’s air bags were deployed.
When the vehicle finally stopped, Chauhan, who had been with Chaurasia, left and left, repeatedly saying: “I did nothing. I was driving the car,” Chaurasia pointed out. Chaurasia, a fourth -year law student at the University of MS, then left the car and began shouting “Another Round”, “Uncle” and “Om Namah Shivay” at the top of his voice.
The passersby persecuted him, avoiding his escape. Some angry locals hit him before the police arrived.
CCTV images captured the entire incident. The injured, including a child, have been hospitalized. Senior police officers confirmed that Chaurasia has been reserved for guilty homicide not equivalent to murder. Chauhan’s blood samples have also been taken. If it is intoxicated, it will be reserved under the prohibition law.
“The deceased woman has been identified as Hemali Patel. Her husband, Purav Patel, who was traveling with her, is in critical condition, ”said Panna Momaya, a police attached commissioner (DCP).
Police suspect that Chaurasia’s screams of ‘another round’ indicated their intention to continue driving recklessly and damage more people. Chaurasia, originally from Uttar Pradesh, resides in a rented accommodation in Nizampura, Vadodara. He told the media that he was not intoxicated while driving and said that the car hit a two -wheeled vehicle, after which the air bags were deployed, and could not see what happened.
